December 9, 2003: Buffy Season Five DVDS
Today is the release date for the season five DVDs of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Included in the DVDs is Jane's episode, "I Was Made To Love You", with a commentary track by Jane.

September 1, 2003: Hugo Award WIN
Jane Espenson and Drew Goddard won a Hugo Award in the category of Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form for their Buffy the Vampire Slayer season seven episode, "Conversations with Dead People." The ceremony was held on August 30th at the 61st World Science Fiction Convention in Toronto, Canada. The other nominees in their category were Joss Whedon, "Waiting in the Wings," Angel; Joss Whedon, "Serenity," Firefly; Rick Berman, Brannon Braga, Dan O'Shannon, "Carbon Creek," Star Trek: Enterprise; and Rick Berman, Brannon Braga, "A Night in Sickbay," Star Trek: Enterprise.

August 29, 2003: Hugo Award Nomination
Jane Espenson and Drew Goddard have been nominated for a Hugo Award in the category of Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form for their Buffy the Vampire Slayer season seven episode, "Conversations with Dead People." The ceremony will be held on Saturday night, August 30th at the 61st World Science Fiction Convention in Toronto, Canada. In addition to writing for the new Gilmore Girls episode, Jane is also working on a new short story for the next Tales of the Slayers collection.

August 19, 2003: The Gamble
The O.C. episode "The Gamble," written by Jane Espenson during her hiatus between Buffy and Gilmore Girls, airs tonight at 9pm on Fox Television.

July 27, 2003: Jane's First GG Episode
It's official, the first Jane Espenson-penned Gilmore Girls episode will be the fourth of the new season—we'll let you know as soon as we have an expected air date. Gilmore Girls began filming its fourth season on Wednesday, July 23rd.

July 14, 2003: DVD Commentary News
The season seven dvds might be over a year away, but just this morning, Jane recorded the commentary track for "Conversations With Dead People," along with Drew Goddard, Nick Marck, Tom Lenk and Danny Strong.

July 3, 2003: Interview with Ain't It Cool News
A new interview just went up at Ain't It Cool News, where Jane talks about the three episodes she wrote for Buffy: The Animated Series, which early episodes hooked her into Buffy, and what she would do with her very own Star Treck series.

June 26, 2003: Jane Still With Gilmore Girls
Jane has confirmed that despite the cancellation of the Gilmore Girls spinoff, she will still be staying with Gilmore Girls (the original series) for the new season as Co-Executive Producer. GG will be getting her full attention, as her obligations to The O.C. have already come to a close.

June 22, 2003: Gilmore Girls Spinoff Cancelled
As reported in Zap2It, the WB has chosen to drop the Gilmore Girls spinoff (just one of Jane's current projects) from their 2003-04 television schedule. Originally slotted for a full-season, fall premiere, it had been rescheduled as a mid-season replacement before being dropped completely due to the high cost of filming entirely on location in Venice, CA.

June 10, 2003: Buffy Season Four DVDS
Today is the release date for the season four DVDs of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Included in the DVDs is Jane's Jonathan-centric episode, "Superstar", with a commentary track by Jane.

May 13, 2003: Jane's Last Buffy episode!
Tonight is Jane's final episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, cowritten with Doug Petrie. Don't miss the second to last episode, tonight at 8pm on UPN.

May 13, 2003: The O.C.
Jane is currently working on her first script for the FOX drama The O.C., which should be the third episode of the new show's fledgling summer season. No information is available yet on when The O.C. will be airing.

March 19, 2003: For Indiana Students
Jane will be speaking at Ball State University in Indiana this Friday, March 21st.

March 19, 2003: Jane's Plans Post-Buffy
Buffy is ending this season, but we'll still be able to get our Jane fix. This spring she'll be working on a new Warner Brothers series for FOX, called "The O.C." about teenagers in Orange County. Nothing's definite, but hopefully it'll be picked up for the summer season. Then come fall, Jane will be doing double duty, working on the yet-to-be-named Gilmore Girls spinoff, and as Consulting Producer for Gilmore Girls.

March 14, 2003: Jane's Next Episode
You thought she was done, but she's not! Jane is cowriting BtVS episode #21, "End of Days," with Doug Petrie. Look for it in May!
